1650 Will of Edmond Jenys

Yeoman of Vagg

 

The last Will and Testament of mee Edmond Jenys of Vagg in the parish of Yeavill in the County of Somerset yeoman made the nynteenth day of September one thousand sixe hundred fifty Inprimis I give unto my Cozen William Jenys which now liveth with mee twenty shillings Item I give to Christopher Jenys brother of the sayd William Tenn shillings Item I give to Edeth Mare the sister of the sayde William and Christopher Twenty shillings to be disposed of for her use at the discretion of my Executors Item I give unto my uncle Thomas Jenys Twenty shillings if he be liveing at the tyme of my death And to his daughter Christian Five shillings And to his sonne Thomas twelve pence I give unto my Cozen John Cary Forty shillings and to each of his children forty shillings a peece Item I give to my Cozen George Carye brother of the aforesayde John Carye Tenn shillings Item I give to Elizabeth the Sister of the sayd John and George five shillings Item I give unto my Cozen Paule Jenys the sonne of my Uncle Paule Jenys Twenty shillings Item I give unto my Cozen Joseph Miller Twenty shillings to be disposed of at the discretion of my Executors for his use All these my aforesayd legacies my will is that they shall not be paid untill it be within one yeare and a quarter after my decease And then to be raised and paid out of my [word illegible] as it is to be made Item I doe make and ordayne Robert Sylly Theophilus Collins and John Hawkins my full and whole Executors of this my last will and Testament Irem I give unto my Executors after the death of my Cozen Joane Jenys seaven yeares profitt and commodities of all my lands whatsoever to be disposed of by them as they shalbe by mee directed in writeing under my hande After the expiracon of which terme I give unto Paule Jenys the sonne of my Uncle Paule Jenys during his naturall life all my aforesayde lands and after to the heyres of him the sayd Paule Jenys and for want of such heyres to the right heyres of my Cozen Bernard Jenys of the parish of Stawbridge in the County of Dorsett In witnesse whereof I the sayde Edmonde Jenys have hereunto sett my hande and seale [yeoven ?] the day and yeare first above written

After the death of Joane Jenys my Kinswoman out of the seaven yeares which I have [reserved ?] to my selfe Item I give to Mr John Connont Minister in Salisbury if he be liveing I doe give him my [Chamed ?] Ringe Item I give to Mr Jeremye French Minister of Yevill one silver spoone which was wholly guilded Item I give to the wifes of my Execut[or]s two silver spoones a peece bearing my name Item I give my two lesser brasse potts to my Kinswoman Joane Jenys Item I give my brasse [Chaffer ?] to Thomasine Slade Item I give to whome was call Godchildren two shillings a peece that and more liveing Item I give to my Cozen William Jenys his two daughters the brasse fornace panne and the bigest brasse pott and sixe [word illegible] stooles evenly devided betweene them and if they dye both unmarried then their father and Mother is to have it as soone as my Kinsman William Jenys his debte is paid to have his moneye and also after all my debts and legacies be paid to have two pounds a yeare alsoe after the death of Joane Jenys my Kinswoman that hee may have as much as the moneye will afforde according to the discretion of the Executors

This Will with the codicil annexed was proved at London before Sir Nathaniell Brent Knight Doctor of Lawes and Master Keeper of the Prerogative Court the twelveth day of May in the yeare of our Lorde God one thousand sixe hundred fiftyone by the oathes of Robert Silly Theophilus Collins and John Hawkins Executors in the sayd will named To whome Administration of all and singular the goods Chattells and debts of the sayd deceased which any manner of ways [containe ?] the same will was graunted and Committed they being first legally sworne by virtue if a Commission in that behalfe issued forth well and truely to Administer the same
