In the name of God Amen the seaven and twentith day of June in the yeare of our Lord God One Thousand sixe hundred Fiftie one; I Alice Lane of Yeovell in the countie of Somersett Widdowe beinge sicke of Body but of perfect minde and memnorie Thankes be to Almightie God Doe make and ordaine this my last will and Testament in manner following That is to say First I Commend my souls into the hands of God my maker Hopeing assuredly through the onely merritts of Jesus Christ my Saviour to be made partaker of life everlastinge; And my body to the earth whereof it is made Item I give unto the Church of Yeovell Tenn shillings Item I Give unto the Poore of Yeovell aforesaid The sume of Tenn shillings Item I give and bequeath unto my cozen Marie Whitenole my best Bedd and bedstead my greene Rugge and all other bedcloathes with Curtaines and vallence to the same Item I give unto my cozen Marie Whitenole Fiftie fowre pounds Item I give unto her the table board and frame in the Chamber over the Shopp with sixe ioyned Stooles Item I give unto my cozen Emma Jeanes Tenn pounds Item I give unto my cozen Katherine Rowe Tenn pounds Item I give towards the repairings of the Well in Kingeston five pounds which doth lye in John Moores hands Item I give and bequeath to my cozen Emma Jeanes my blewe Rugge, one dozen of Canvas Napkins, and Canvas board cloath. Item I doe give unto my Sister Joane Rowe my best [Coverlett ?] my great presse two gownes, my best Whittle [a whittle was also sometimes called a mantle and occasionally a cloak] and petticoate and best hatt and smocke I give unto my cozens Emma Jeanes Gertrude Martin and Katherine Rowe, to each of them, one parie of sheetes and to my sister Joane Rowe two parie of sheetes Item I give unto my cozen Elizabeth Carye my silver boall Item I give unto John Carye, my yron backe and furnas pann to be carried upp into Kingstone Item I give unto my cozen Marie Whitenole sixe Cushions with the Carpett Item I give unto my servant Jane Twentie shillings Item I give unto Muriel the daughter of William Sugge Twentie shillings Item I give unto Elizabeth Rodber sometimes my servant Twentie shillings Item I give unto my cozen William Rowe Twenty shillings Item I give and bequeath unto my sister Katherine Spurle my Rideing suite Item I give unto my cozen Mary Whitenole the Truncks in the Chest in Hall chamber The key I have delivered her Item I give unto my cozen Elianor Brooke my great Crocke Item I give unto my cozen Gyles Whitenole my [contued ?] Cupp lipt with silver Item I give unto my cozen Mary his wife, sixe silver spoones Item I give unto my cozen Elizabeth Carye the Table board and frame in the Hall with the Cupboard and vessells upon the same, with the rest of the Trunk stuffe with [word illegible] Item I give unto my cozen Emma Jeanes my Feather bedd in the hall chamber. Item I give and bequeath to my Sister Joane Rowe my Truncke in the Hall chamber Item I give and bequeath unto Marie Whitenoll my flaskett of pewter, my warmbing pann, a brasse pann standing in the Kitchin and a barell and a Wosterd Whittle Item I give to my sister Emma Totterdell my cloth cloake Item I give to my sister Joane Rowe my knapped Ringe to my cozin Em Jeanes my [Synnod ?] Ringe To my cozen Mary Whitenoll my little Ringe, And to my sister Ellianor Cary my Wedding Ringe Item I give to my cozen Dorothy Rowe my Skillett. All the rest of my goods and Chattells whatsoever not before given nor bequeathed I doe give and bequeath unto my cozen John Carye Whom I doe make my whole and sole Executor of this my present last will and testament And lastly I desire my cozen Thomas Brooke and Thomas Browne my good freinds to be Overseers of this my present last will and to see the same performed; And for theire paines I doe give to each of them Five shillings In Witness whereof I have hereunto put my hand and seale the day and year first above written.

This will was proved at London the fifteenth day of October in the yeare of our lord God One thousand sixe hundred fiftie and five, before the Judges for probate of wills and granting Administrations lawfully authorized by the Oath of John Cary the Kinsman and sole Executor named in the said will To whom Administration of all and singular the goods Chattells and debts of the said Deceased was Committed He being first legally sworne truely to Administer the same
