1778 Will of Thomas Slade

This is the last Will and Testament of me Thomas Slade of Yeovil in the County of Somerset Surgeon I give unto [Tarrissa?] Chapmen one Silver Tankard mark [F.G.?] one silver porringer one silver Tumbler one silver Baker one silver Sugar Dish three silver Table Spoons one silver Salts and one silver Cream Mug I give unto Thomas Taunton Son of Samuel Taunton deceased one silver Tankard mark SD I give unto Samuel Taunton Son of the above Samuel Taunton one silver Waiter mark E.C.  I give unto Frances Taunton Daughter of the above Samuel Taunton deceased one silver Coffee Pot I give unto Mary Tucker of Axminster Daughter of the above Samuel Taunton deceased six Silver Table Spoons mark G.A.  I give unto Charity Sims my Servant All the Wearing Apparel of the late Mary Marsh except one Grey Silk Gown which I give unto my Sister Elizabeth Loaker of Evilchester  I likewise give unto Charity Sims six silver Tea Spoons which was the property of the above Mary Marsh deceased  All the above Legacies shall be given as mentioned above if in case my Daughter Elizabeth Slade dies without Issue but if any Issue then above Legacies to be null and void  My Will further is that Charity Sims my Servant shall have fifty Pounds to be paid by my Executors In Trust herein after named one Month after my decease  Mt Will further is that if my Daughter Elizabeth Slade should die before & she arrives to the Age of twenty one Years That the said Charity Sims shall be paid fifty pounds out of the Effects which will be then left at the deceased of my Daughter Elizabeth Slade  I give unto Joseph Thomas Loaker Son of my Sister Elizabeth Loaker one pair of silver Shoe Buckles Knee Buckles and Stock Buckles  I give unto Edward Slade Son of my Uncle Edward Slade one silver Table Spoon  I give unto Margarett Slade Hannah Slade Daughters of the above Edward Slade one silver Table Spoon each And I appoint Mr Thomas Taunton and Mr James Knight of Cannington and Mr Henry Slade of North Perrott and Mr John Mercers of Halstock Executors In Trust for my Daughter Elizabeth Slade my Will and Meaning is that the above Samuel Taunton and James Knight shall have the sole care in the Instruction and Education of my Daughter Elizabeth Slade and concerning all the rest and residue of my Goods Chattels Personal and Testamentary Estate whatsoever and wheresoever and of what nature kind or quality soever I give and bequeath the same unto my Daughter Elizabeth Slade whom I make and appoint sole Executrix of this my last Will and Testament  In Witness whereof I the said Thomas Slade the Testator have to this my last Will and Testament subscribed my Name and set my Seal this third day of February in the Year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and seventy eight

This Will was proved at London the first day of October in the Year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and seventy eight before the Right Worshipful Sir Geo Hay Knt Doctor of Laws Master Keeper or Commissary of the Prerogative Court of Canterbury lawfully constituted by the Oaths of Thomas Taunton James Knight Henry Slade and John Mercers the Executors In Trust agreeable to the tenor of the appointment in the said Will for Elizabeth Slade Spinster a Minor the Daughter of the deceased to whom Administration was granted of all and singular the Goods Chattels and Credits of the said deceased they having been first sworn by Commission duly to administer
