1833 will of MARTHA SHEPHERD

Widow

 

This is the last Will and Testament of me Martha Shepherd of the Town of Yeovil in the County of Somerset Widow In the first place I direct that all my just debts funeral & testamentary expences be respectively paid by my Nephew and Executor hereinafter named out of my personal Estate as soon as conveniently may be after my decease And I do hereby also direct that my body after my decease be buried in a plain & decent manner at Yeovil in the County of Somerset I give & bequeath unto the several persons hereinafter named and described the several legacies or sums of money next hereinafter mentioned (that is to say) To my Nephew Henry Wills [margin note inserted = the eldest son of my late brother Henry Wills] the sum of fifty pounds of lawful British money To my Nephew Thomas Hare Wills second son of my said late brother Henry Wills the like sum of fifty pounds of like lawful money To Susanna West Daughter of my late Niece Joanna West the like sum of fifty pounds of like lawful money To Joanna West  second Daughter of my late Niece Joanna West the like sum of fifty pounds of like lawful money To Frederick West Son of the said Joanna West the elder the like sum of fifty pounds of like lawful money & to my Nephew Robert Shew of the City of Bath Son of my late Sister Mary Shew the like sum of fifty pounds of like lawful money And I give & bequeath unto my Nieces the said Susanna West & Joanna West All the wearing apparel of or to which I shall die possessed or entitled equally to be divided between them share and share alike And I do hereby give devise and bequeath unto my Nephew Henry Wills Shew of the City of Bristol Surgeon Dentist All my Real and Chattel Real Estate and also all the rest residue & remainder of my Goods Chattels and other Personal Estate of what nature or kind soever not hereinbefore disposed of & which shall not be applied in or toward payment of my debts funeral & testamentary expences & the legacies or sums of money hereinbefore bequeathed To hold the same respectively unto & to the use of my said Nephew Henry Will Shew his heirs ex[ecut]ors adm[inistrat]ors & assigns for ever or for & during and according to the respective natures & [tenures ?] thereof And I do hereby nominate & appoint my said Nephew Henry Will Shew Executor of this my last Will & Testament And I do hereby revoke & make void all former and other Wills & Codicils by me at any time heretobefore made and I do declare this to be my only last Will & Testament In Witness whereof I the said Martha Shepherd have to this my last Will & Testament set my hand and seal this first day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty three

Proved at London 17th April 1841 before the Judge by the Oath of Henry Wills Shew the Nephew the sole Executor to whom Adm[inistrati]on was granted having been first sworn (by Com[missi]on) duly to administer
