1769 will of George Gast

Inn Holder of the Mermaid Inn

 

I George Gast of Yeovil in the County of Somerset Inn holder do by this my last Will and Testament Give devise and bequeath unto Mr John Gast of Salisbury in the County of Wilts Wine Merchant all my Real and Personal Estates whatsoever To hold to the said John Gast his Heirs and assigns for ever upon this Special Trust and Confidence nevertheless and to and for the Intents and purposes following (that is to say) to apply the Rents and profits thereof to and among all and every my Children in equal shares and proportions until they and each of them shall attain the age of twenty one years and then to sell and dispose of the same Estates and Effects and divide the Money arising from the sale thereof to and among each of them and their respective Representatives in equal shares and proportions and I do appoint the said John Gast Guardian of my Children and Executor of this my Will upon the Trust aforesaid hereby revoking all former Wills by me made In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the Ninth Day of October in the Year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and sixty nine

Signed sealed published and declared by the said George Gast as and for his last Will and Testament in the presence of us who have subscribed our Names as Witnesses thereto in his presence and at his request and in the presence of each other

This Will was proved at London on the tenth day of December in the Year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and seventy four before the Right Worshipful Sir George [name illegible] Knight Doctor of Laws Master Keeper or Commissary of the Prerogative Court of Canterbury lawfully constituted by the Oath of John Gast the Brother of the deceased and sole Executor named in the said Will to whom Administration was granted of all and singular the Goods Chattels and Credits of the said deceased having been first Sworn by Commission duly to Administer
