1795 Will of Charles Francis

Butcher of Silver Street

 

This is the last Will and Testament of me Charles Francis of Yeovil in the County of Somerset Butcher I give and bequeath unto my Daughters Mary Stephens Wife of John Stephens of Yeovil aforesaid Gardner and Grace Parker Wife of Nathaniel Parker of the same place Butcher all that my Leasehold Messuage or Dwellinghouse wherein I now live for and during the remainder of the Term Estate and Interest which I have therein And I give and bequeath unto my said two Daughters all my Household Goods and furniture equally to be divided between them share and share alike I give and bequeath unto my Son in Law Nathaniel Parker all that my Close of Meadow or Pasture Ground called Bridge Close situate lying and being at or near Yeovil Bridge for and during the Remainder of the [Term ?] Estate and Interest which I have therein and I give and bequeath unto my Daughter Mary the Sum of sixty pounds and I give unto my Daughter Grace the Sum of Forty pounds for her own sole and separate use and not to be subject to the Controul or Debts of her husband which said Sums of Sixty pounds and forty pounds are to be paid out of a Mortgage made to [be ?] from one Robert Tucker for securing the Sum of one hundred pounds and I do will and direct that the said Legacies of Sixty pounds and forty pounds shall be paid by my Executor within six months next after my decease if the said Sum of one hundred pounds can be conveniently called in I give and bequeath unto my Grandson Charles Stephens all that my Freehold Messuage Tenement or Dwellinghouse situate lying and being near the Church Steps in Yeovil aforesaid now in the Tenure of Robert Jennings To hold unto my said Grandson his heirs and assigns for ever he paying the following Legacies (that is to say) to each of my Grandsons John Stephens and Robert Stephens the Sum of Twenty pounds each and to each of my Grand Daughters Mary Stephens and Sarah Stephens the Sum of five pounds each all the rest residue and Remainder of whatsoever I am possessed of I give unto my Son in Law John Stephens and I do hereby nominate Constitute and appoint the said John Stephens whole and Sole Executor of this my last Will and Testament hereby revoking all others by me at any time heretofore made In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and Seal this sixteenth day of January in the thirty fifth year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord George the third by the Grace of God of Great Britain France and Ireland King Defender of the faith and so forth and in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety five

This Will was proved at London the fifth day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety five before the Right Honourable Sir William Wynne Knight Doctor of Laws Master Keeper or Commissary of the prerogative Court of Canterbury lawfully constituted by the oath of John Stephens the Sole Executor named in the said Will to whom administration was granted of all and singular the Goods Chattels and Credits of the deceased having been first sworn by Commission Duly to Administer
